June update: Project ARETE

Project Arete, a longitudinal, multi-method, multi-cohort study of character development at the United States Military Academy (USMA), recently completed their fourth and final summer data collection from the incoming Class of 2023. The project team is preparing for their final qualitative and quantitative data collections which will take place in the Fall of 2019.

The project team recently met with the superintendent of USMA, LTG Williams, with an update on the project purpose and findings, gaining full support from the administration to continue in the project’s efforts to describe, explain, and optimize character among cadets at USMA.

The project team recently authored a paper on character and developmental measurement, to be published in the Journal of Character and Leadership Development. In addition, various papers are under review or in preparation with foci on, or related to, character and performance measurement models. Finally, the team will be presenting results from the study at the annual American Psychological Association conference in Chicago, August 8-11, 2019.
