Several members of the Softmattertheory group attended the 65th meeting of the New England Complex Fluids workgroup this past Friday. The event, which is held quarterly at different institutions throughout New England, was hosted by Harvard University. The gathering provides a forum for undergraduates, graduates, and professors, to interact with peers in the area doing related research.

In addition to 5 invited talks from soft matter scientists around the country, the day featured over 50 “soundbites”, in which attendees give brief presentations of their current work. Group members Chris Burke and Andrew DeBenedictis presented soundbites on “Jamming and unjamming on ellipsoids” and “Relaxation behavior of a flexible capacitor” respectively.
