The successful candidate will work primarily within New Ecology’s energy efficiency program, which works to improve the efficiency of existing buildings by analyzing historical energy use, evaluating building systems, and researching the cost/benefit of potential improvements. More specifically the intern will assist in benchmarking the energy performance of buildings; assist in analyzing building performance; assist in evaluation of potential energy efficiency improvements such as building weatherization, HVAC improvements, water conservation measures, and installation of renewable energy systems; assist in preparation of funding applications to support implementation of energy efficiency improvements; and complete other duties as assigned. Texas A&M University-Kingsville seeks a sustainability project specialist to assist with the leadership, strategic design and administration of current university sustainability initiatives. The specialist will serve as the contact for campus sustainability projects in areas including environmental health, recycling, composting, community garden efforts and renewable energy. The intern will be actively participating in research on the availability and feasibility of green components for a variety of new construction affordable housing projects. Interns will participate in the planning and execution of greening charrettes with the project design team and project specific technical assistance and cost benefit analysis related to energy and water conservation, indoor air quality, low impact site design, and building durability. Interns will learn to evaluate project plans and specifications for greening and will be involved in the integration of renewable energy technology on select projects.
