The Department of Environmental Services is currently accepting applications for the position of Director. The Director will provide management in the supervision of Environmental Services Supervisors, crew leaders, and Environmental Technicians to ensure the timely and proper custodial care of all College buildings. Tasks include: developing and maintaining departmental policies and procedures, coordinating activities with other College departments, and managing all personnel issues; developing and maintaining schedules for cleaning and maintenance of equipment; recommending and requisitioning equipment, materials, and supplies.
Qualified candidates must possess high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of ten years progressive supervisory and management experience, preferably in building maintenance or housekeeping services. Candidate must have demonstrated the ability to work well with people and diverse teams; familiarity with computer software including word processing, spread sheets, data management and electronic timecard systems; excellent written and verbal communication skills; and the physical ability to perform housekeeping work, including operating power equipment, hand equipment, and move material. Candidate must have a valid driver’s license. Preference will be given to candidates with a college level degree and/or higher education experience.

The Center for Urban Ecology (CUE) at Butler University invites applications for Butler’s first Sustainability Coordinator. We seek applicants who share our passion for creative solutions to issues related to campus sustainability, urban ecology, and sustainable cities. Butler University is a recent signatory of the American Colleges and Universities Presidents’ Climate Commitment (ACUPCC) and is looking to build upon this signing to develop innovative and robust sustainability programming for Butler’s campus, viewing the campus as a living laboratory for these programs. Butler’s Sustainability Coordinator will develop and oversee sustainability programming for faculty, staff and students of Butler University and promote Butler’s campus sustainability to local, regional and national audiences. This position reports to the director of the Center for Urban Ecology and will work closely with Butler’s existing Sustainability Council, students, faculty and staff to help develop and execute the University’s sustainability program.

Ruby on Rails Developer, Sustainable Endowments Institute
The Billion Dollar Green Challenge, which helps colleges and universities invest in energy efficiency and resource efficiency projects on campus,has been creating a web tool called the Green Revolving Investment Tracking System (GRITS) over the past year and now has a working beta version of the tool. You can read more about GRITS here and see a video demo. The purpose of GRITS is to help colleges and other institutions manage and track their energy, financial, and carbon savings from energy efficiency projects. We are looking to add a developer that is skilled in Ruby on Rails to work with the existing beta version to build out a final platform that can be used by early September.
