The Forest Stewardship Council is seeking a consultant to explore the feasibility of carbon storage as a High Conservation Value. In 2011, the General Assembly requested FSC to explore the feasibility and wider implications of including natural ecosystems with globally, regionally and/or nationally significant amounts of carbon stored in vegetation and soil as a High Conservation Value. In order to implement this motion, the PSU Ecosystem Services program is now seeking a consultant that will provide recommendations on the different options available to identify, monitor and assess High Carbon Density forests in accordance with FSC Principle 9. The World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) is an independent research institution, which generates science- based knowledge about the complex role trees play in agricultural landscapes and rural livelihoods. Main purpose of the positions are to establish the definitive database on the impact of field-level agricultural practices on food production, adaptive capacity, and climate change mitigation (i.e., climate-smart agriculture). The Consultant team containing approximately six members will work together to find, compile and analyze research on climate-smart agriculture. This will require literature search, evaluation, and data extraction and will yield both a terrain map of the available information and a database of evidence.
