Educational Technology Services is holding online training sessions and open labs to help you get up and running with Canvas.

On Demand Training

For instructors who cannot attend a live session, recorded versions of our most popular training topics are available:

Short videos focused on specific course tools and tasks are also available: See the Canvas@Tufts On Demand Training Library and the Canvas Video Guides for Instructors. 

Live Training (in-person and online)

Sessions we offer include:

  • Demonstrations: A 30 minute introduction to Canvas with time for Q & A.
  • Canvas Basics: A 90 minute training that focuses on creating and delivering course content in Canvas. Attendees are encouraged to bring laptops and follow along with the presentation.
  • Canvas Quick Training: A 45-60 minute session focused on completing a single task in Canvas, such as creating your syllabus or building an assignment.
  • Open Labs/Virtual Drop-in Help: Drop-in sessions where users can get one-on-one help with Canvas.
  • Advanced Workshops: We offer advanced training sessions on special topics at the request of departments and programs.

Poll Everywhere in Canvas

In this online training session, we’ll show you how to create interactive lessons to use in your classroom with Poll Everywhere. We’ll discuss creating and delivering questions which students can answer with their mobile devices and ways to share student responses in real time. We’ll also cover the reporting and gradebook features of Poll Everywhere.

Creating Video in Canvas with Kaltura Capture

Kaltura Capture can be used to create an online presentation or record anything on your screen. After this online training, you will be able to record, edit and post video in Canvas using the Kaltura Capture recording and editing tools. We’ll also discuss research-backed ways to structure your videos so they are most beneficial for your students’ learning.
