Spotlight the Women in Your Life Who are Undaunted Trailblazers!

Check out this ADEA article on the trailblazing women in your life! Get the mentioned book on Amazon here!

We believe there are many undaunted women trailblazers in dental education, the oral health profession and those who serve as champions in our lives. We are asking you to help us celebrate the undaunted trailblazing women who have inspired and supported you!

Additionally, ADEA is requesting that you help us honor the release of Undaunted Trailblazers: Minority Women Leaders for Oral Health by Drs. Shelia S. Price, Jeanne C. Sinkford and Marilyn P. Woolfolk. This book celebrates the triumph and achievements of many outstanding women of color oral health leaders. Many of the women in the book are African American, therefore your participation helps us support both Black History Month and Women’s History Month in March. Also, we are keenly aware that the outstanding women in the book and in our lives come from many different cultures, backgrounds, race/ethnicities and have a host of diverse experiences that helped shape the dynamic women they are. That is why we want you to help us celebrate them and any undaunted trailblazing woman!

Honoring Undaunted Women

ADEA is asking its members and friends to identify and share the story of an undaunted trailblazing woman who has personally or professionally inspired you by sharing information about them on one of your social media pages (e.g., LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.). This can be any woman who has had a significant, positive impact on you personally or professionally.

We have made it easy for you by sharing sample social media posts at the bottom of this message. We will feature several of these posts at the 2022 ADEA Annual Session & Exhibition Tapestry Table Plenary Session on Monday, March 21. Those selected will win a free copy of the book, Undaunted Trailblazers, signed by Dr. Jeanne Sinkford, Professor Emeritus and former Dean of the Howard University College of Dentistry, and the first woman Dean of a U.S. dental school.

From now until March 31, 2022, you can have more than one post about more than one undaunted woman. However, for purposes of this activity, we ask that you limit it to no more than three posts.

Ways to Share on Social Media
You can do so in one of these ways:

  1. Write a message and post a picture. On your social media account, write about a woman who is an undaunted trailblazer, post the message and a picture on your social media page with the hashtag, #UndauntedTrailblazers, and tag one of ADEA’s social media accounts. Examples are below.
  2. Record a short video and post it. On your social media account, record a short video—60 seconds or less—telling us about a woman who is an undaunted trailblazer in your life, post the video on your social media page with the hashtag #UndauntedTrailblazers and tag ADEA’s social media page. See examples below.
  3. Post a video or picture of you or a group with the book. On your social media account, write a post or record a short video—60 seconds or less—about an undaunted women trailblazer in dental education or the oral health profession. In the video or a picture, showcase yourself or a group from your dental school or allied dental/advance practice program holding the book, Undaunted Trailblazers. Don’t forget to add the hashtag #UndauntedTrailblazers, and to tag ADEA. See examples below.

Thank you for participating and helping us honor the outstanding undaunted women trailblazers within dental education, the oral health profession and in our own lives who have helped us become who we are!
