Hispanic International Mission (HIM) 2nd Symposium in Dental Career.

Congratulations to Dr. Aidee Nieto-Herman for organizing the Hispanic International Mission
(HIM) 2nd Symposium in Dental Career. It was a great success! Dr. Herman is Associate
Professor, Department of Periodontology at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine; she is
HIM President and CEO founded 2 mentoring programs: Training Foreign Dentist and Promoting
Dentistry as Career for Minorities.
A total of seven scholarships were given between the participants. Dr. Aidee Herman Scholarships was distributed between one Middle School student, one High School students and one College Student. Also, 2 Scholarships were given to Tufts Students for research, “The Effects of Health
Disparities on Herd Immunity Against COVID-19 in the USA: A Systematic Literature Review, “presented to students Gabriel Perez and Mikaelle Williams. 2 Scholarship Awards were given for Global Service Program Humanitarian Mission trip, Tufts student Yudi Quintero D’25 and Nelson Martinez RDH, MPH. HIM gave 2 Continue Education credits, and the speakers were:
Dr. Aidee Herman lectured about  “The Impact of Stress on Women with Periodontal Disease”;
Dr. Lorena Alex, Tufts University School of Dental Medicine Assistant Professor, Practice
Coordinator for Group Charlestown lectured about “Rehabilitation of Atrophic Anterior
Edentulous Mandible-Case Report”; Dr. Reimy Evangelist, Tufts Alumni lectured about “Introduction to oral Facial Pain”; Dr. Merelyn Hong, Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Assistant Professor, Practice Coordinator for Group Back Bay was the Moderator.
