Research Updates and Funding Opportunities From DRA

Good Afternoon TUSDM Research Community,
Please find this week’s research updates below. Please do not hesitate to reach out to your research administrator if you have any questions.

Research Updates and Reminders

DRA’s FAQ of the Week: What is a Continuing Review and Why Are They Required By the IRB?
Per the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) regulations at 45 CFR part 46, studies that are deemed “expedited” or are reviewed during a convened IRB meeting must submit an annual report to the Tufts IRB regarding the research activities that have taken place in the last year. The types of information that are required are: new COI forms from all study team members, the number of records reviewed/subjects consented within the last year, and any incidents that should be reported such as a report from the sponsor or a subject withdrew from the study. Ann-Marie Billig will help you prepare this report each step of the way!

Tool Tip: Identify NIH Funded Researchers at Your Institution and Beyond with RePORTER
It can be very helpful to tap NIH-funded researchers at your own institution to provide feedback on your application or to serve as mentors. NIH RePORTER is a super easy way to identify NIH-funded investigators at your institution (or elsewhere) who may be willing to help. Upcoming Training, Workshops, and opportunities

NIH Data Sharing and Management Plan Workshop – May 15th
Join Allie Tatarian, Data Librarian at the Health Sciences Library, for a virtual workshop about the new NIH Data Management and Sharing Plan requirement for research grants. Email DRA with any specific questions about DMS plans that will be answered during the workshop.

The workshop will be held on Zoom on Monday, May 15th from 12-1PM. To register, click here.
Culture of Care Workgroup Lunch – May 11th
The Culture of Care workgroup.is looking at ways to make TUSDM a better place to work, as well as looking at ways we can work better together. Part of the workgroup’s job is to collect information from faculty and staff about what is working well at TUSDM and what is not working so well. In addition to an internal survey that was sent out, the University had previously sent two surveys to gather information. This lunch, taking place on May 11th at 12:00 PM in Meritt Auditorium, will share the survey results, talk about possible next steps, and provide an opportunity to ask questions and provide additional feedback. This lunch is open to all faculty and staff. Please email Gerard Cedrone if you plan to attend.

The ReWARD program  provides support for the health-related research of scientists who are making a significant contribution to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) and who have no current NIH research project grant funding. The ReWARD program provides funding for both the scientific research and the DEIA activities of investigators. The grant will support scientific research in areas related to the programmatic interests of one or more of the participating NIH Institutes and Centers (ICs) and ongoing DEIA activities focused on enhancing diversity in the biomedical research enterprise within the United States and territories.
