**2024 IADR/AADOCR/CADR Abstract Deadline: October 17th**
The International Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (IADR) will take place on March 13-16th in New Orleans, LA and is excited to announce the opening of the ScholarOne Abstracts submission site for the 2024 IADR/AADOCR/CADR General Session. Abstracts which must be submitted by October 17 will be considered for oral presentation or poster presentation. For details on preparing your submission, see IADR abstract guidelines. If you submit an abstract, please notify Tiffany Smith.

NIH All About Grants Podcast: Reporting on Your Scientific Progress
Dr. Tom Cheever, a program officer with the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, explains more about progress reporting in this all about grants podcast.  He discusses what the Research Performance Progress Report (RPPR) is, why it is important to report on progress (even if challenges were faced), the information to provide or not provide, instructional resources, and frequency of reporting.
REMINDER: Translational Science Day Poster Proposals Due Friday, September 15
Investigators from Tufts CTSI partners are invited to showcase their work in a poster during Translational Science Day on Monday, October 16. Posters presenting research responsive to the day’s theme (“Advancing Health Equity through Translational Science”) are encouraged, but posters addressing other topics in clinical and translational research are welcome. To submit a proposal, please complete this brief form by Friday, September 15th. All posters will be presented in person at a plenary session during the Symposium. 1) Maximizing Opportunities for Scientific and Academic Independent Careers (MOSAIC) Postdoctoral Career Transition Award to Promote Diversity (K99/R00)
About: The overarching goal of this NIH MOSAIC UE5 program is to support educational activities that encourage individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those from groups underrepresented in the biomedical and behavioral sciences, to pursue further studies or careers in research. NCCIH will accept applications for research projects in areas within the Center’s mission that are well-aligned with its strategic priorities (https://www.nccih.nih.gov/about/strategic-plans-and-reports). Studies may range from basic, through translational, epidemiological, health services, and other human subjects research.

2) HEAL Initiative: Integrated Basic and Clinical Team-based Research in Pain
About: The purpose of this opportunity is to support integrated efforts of three or more (up to six) PDs/PIs to pursue bold, impactful, and challenging research in basic and clinical pain domains to understand the biology of specific human pain conditions as well as pain associated with various diseases/disorders and pain across the lifespan, including mechanistic underpinning of heterogeneity and stratification of patients with specific pain conditions and comorbidities. Research approach should be interdisciplinary in nature, and the research teams are expected to establish a common goal that requires collaboration, synergy, and managed team interactions. Teams must leverage appropriate multi-disciplinary expertise to develop new principles and methods for experimentation, analysis, and interpretation.

3) Patterson Foundation Grant Program
About: Strategic grants for programs that impact populations on a large scale. Programs may be national, regional or serve an expanded metro area. In general, individual grant amounts vary up to $60,000, depending on the scale and impact of the program. The Patterson Foundation supports programs that expand access to restorative and emergency dental
care for individuals in need. Priority is given to organizations that are staffed primarily by volunteer dental professionals and/or students. In this focus area, the Foundation supports the following types of requests:
• Start-up costs or one-time projects that expand an organization’s capacity to serve individuals in need. Per our funding guidelines, grants cannot be used to purchase dental supplies or equipment or for the costs of patient care. In general, individual grant amounts vary up to $35,000, depending on the project goals and scope.
• Personnel costs for a dental assistant, hygienist or coordinator to support the work of volunteer dental professionals or students who staff the program. The employee(s) must work directly with the volunteer providers. In general, programs can receive up to $10,000 in support, depending on the goals and impact of the program.
• Strategic grants for programs that impact populations on a large scale. Programs may be national, regional or serve an expanded metro area. In general, individual grant amounts vary up to $60,000, depending on the scale and impact of the program.

4) Inclusion Across the Nation of Communities of Learners of Underrepresented Discovers in Engineering and Science (NSF INCLUDES) *LIMITED SUBMISSION
About: The purpose of this opportunity is to enhance U.S. leadership in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) discovery and innovation, focused on NSF’s commitment to ensuring accessibility and inclusivity in STEM fields. Investigators planning to submit a proposal are strongly encouraged to submit a one-page description of their proposal idea to nsfincludes@nsf.gov at least two months prior to proposal submission so that an NSF INCLUDES program director can provide feedback on alignment of the idea with NSF INCLUDES’ goals.  
– Themes: Broadening Participation in STEM, Enabling Sustainable Change in Systems, Scaling Up Outcomes in Ways That Advance Equity, Building Collaborative Infrastructure 
– Project types: (1) Design and Development Launch Pilots, (2) Collaborative Change Consortia, (3) Alliances, (4) Network Connectors, and (5) Conferences.

5) NIH – Collaborative Program Grant for Multidisciplinary Teams *LIMITED SUBMISSION
About: The purpose of this opportunity is to propose projects addressing complex and challenging biomedical problems within the mission of NIGMS.  NIGMS supports generalizable, foundational basic research that increases understanding of biological processes at a range of levels, from molecules and cells, to tissues, whole organisms, and populations. Truly new interdisciplinary ideas for approaching significant biological problems are encouraged. Applications that bridge the research interests of more than one area of science supported by NIGMS are also encouraged but must remain within the NIGMS mission.Consultation with relevant program staff at least 10 weeks prior to the application due date is strongly encouraged 
Eligibility: Multiple PIs are required; the contact PD/PI is required to devote at least 30% of their total research effort to this award, and other PD/PS are required to devote at least 25% of their total research effort to the award. Please follow Tufts PI eligibility policies.

6) Moore Inventor Fellows *LIMITED SUBMISSION
About: This opportunity focuses on supporting scientist-inventors at a critical stage of research to capture opportunities that otherwise might be missed, by providing freedom and support to promising inventors with the most compelling ideas to pursue creative work. Intentions should be at an early stage that could lead to proof-of-concept work or advance an existing prototype that tackles an important program. Note that a clear path toward commercialization is not a requirement, and the foundation will not fund projects that are at a stage where significant venture capital is available. Examples of programs include but are not limited to environmental science and conservation, remote sensing, artificial intelligence, big data, climatology, emerging infectious diseases, oceanography, biology, engineering, physics, chemistry, materials science, neuroscience, and public health. he plausibility of the invention to achieve the stated impact.
Eligibility: Must be faculty, research scientists, postdocs or other full-time staff who can receive funding through their institutions. Candidates must be no more than 10 years past receiving the terminal advanced degree in their field (M.S., Ph.D. or M.D.).  Please note that candidates must devote at least 25% effort for focus on the project. Please follow Tufts PI eligibility policies.

– A 500-word description of the proposed project, in line with the program’s requirements (e.g., describe the stage of your invention and demonstrate why it is a good fit for Moore Foundation funding).
