**2024 IADR/AADOCR/CADR Abstract Deadline: October 17th**
The International Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (IADR) will take place on March 13-16th in New Orleans, LA and is excited to announce the opening of the ScholarOne Abstracts submission site for the 2024 IADR/AADOCR/CADR General Session. Abstracts which must be submitted by THIS TUESDAY, October 17 will be considered for oral presentation or poster presentation. For details on preparing your submission, see IADR abstract guidelines. If you submit an abstract, please notify Tiffany Smith.

University Updates

Translational Science Day 2023 in Boston on Monday, October 16!
 “Advancing Health Equity through Translational Science” is THIS MONDAY in Boston on the Tufts Health Sciences campus (Center for Medical Education, 145 Harrison Ave). Register now to hear keynote talks from Dr. Robert Califf, FDA Commissioner, and Dr. Michael Kurilla, Director of the Division of Clinical Innovation, NCATS. The program also features lightning talks on healthy AI, diversifying clinical trial recruitment, and decomposition and causal inference from researchers from MIT, Kaiser Permanente, and Johns Hopkins. Back this year is an afternoon poster session spotlighting clinical and translational research from across Tufts CTSI partners, and an interactive research studio.

Tufts CTSI Team Virtual Science Summit: “Advances, Applications, and Future Directions in Disease Models” – Friday, October 27th

New and more relevant experimental models – in vivoin vitro, and in silico – are essential for better understanding disease processes and more effectively testing therapeutics.

This fully virtual interdisciplinary symposium on Friday, October 27 at 9:00AM will highlight exciting work in multiple areas from labs across Tufts CTSI’s academic and clinical partners.

The 102nd General Session & Exhibition of the IADR, 53rd Annual Meeting of the AADOCR, and 48th Annual Meeting of the CADR will take place on March 13-16th in New Orleans, LA.

1) AADOCR Irwin D. Mandel Distinguished Mentoring AwardAbout: The purpose of this opportunity is to provide national recognition for outstanding efforts to foster and promote research training and career development of students, trainees and junior faculty. It is intended to identify individuals at all levels of their career with an exemplary record of mentoring.Eligibility:
Nominees must be members of the AADOCR; Each nominee must be an experienced researcher with a record of commitment to the research training and career development of students, trainees and/or faculty.

2) Massachusetts Dental Society (MDS) Foundation, Expanding Access to Care GrantsAbout: The purpose of this opportunity is to improve the oral health of all citizens of Massachusetts and to increase access to care for underserved populations in the state. For the Expanding Access to Care
Grants, the Foundation distributes funds in various amounts to applicants located in Massachusetts for projects benefiting citizens of the Commonwealth. Priority is given to proposals that have measurable
improvement goals, show strong community support for the project, and are innovative in nature.Eligibility: Applicants are typically larger facilities or larger organizations

3) Collaborative Science to Achieve Disruptive Innovations in Dental, Oral and Craniofacial (DOC)
About: The purpose of this opportunity is to support highly integrated research teams to address challenging questions with the potential to significantly advance dental, oral and craniofacial (DOC) fields of research. Each project should have a unified and well-defined scientific goal within the NIDCR mission that requires a team with diverse perspectives and expertise in a variety of intellectual or technical areas and is beyond the experience and capabilities of one or two investigators. Teams are encouraged to consider transformative, and disruptive innovative objectives with defined 5-year outcomes. 
Eligibility: No agency restrictions; Please follow Tufts PI eligibility policies.

4) AADOCR Bloc Travel GrantAbout: The American Association for Dental, Oral & Craniofacial Research (AADOCR) received funding from the National Institutes of Health – National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIH-NIDCR) to support travel for U.S. dental or PhD students, residents, and postdoctoral fellows to the AADOCR/CADR Annual Meeting & Exhibition for presentation of scientific papers on dental research. Qualified individuals will be selected to receive funds on the basis of the quality of an abstract accepted for presentation at the Meeting.
Eligibility: 
• U.S Dental or PhD students, residents, or postdoctoral fellows

5) Dolores Zohrab Liebmann Fund-Fellowship *LIMITED SUBMISSION
About: The purpose of this opportunity is to support students with outstanding character and ability who hold promise for achievement and distinction in their chosen field of study.
Eligibility: Students may be pursuing any recognized field of study in the humanities, social sciences, or natural sciences (including law, medicine, engineering, architecture or other professional training); the foundation prefers to support scholarly endeavors
• Fellowships are awarded to candidates who have outstanding undergraduate records and demonstrated need for financial assistance
• Applicants must demonstrate the relationship between their graduate level study and intended personal and/or professional goals Applicants must be enrolled graduate students pursuing a graduate degree in one of the fields above; must have a very strong undergraduate record; must demonstrate financial need; must be United States citizens.
