Massachusetts HDA Chapter Hosts Dental Careers Symposium 2023

The Massachusetts Hispanic Dental Association (MAHDA) Dental Careers Symposium was held on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. It was a commemorative year as MAHDA turns 30 years this year!

The 98 registrants were a diverse group of individuals composed of:

• Dentists
• International dentists
• Tufts Dental students
• Pre-dental students from surrounding universities 

The speakers included:

-Dr. Aidee Nieto-Herman, Associate Professor of Periodontology Department and MAHDA Founder and Former MAHDA President. She spoke about the history of the HDA and MAHDA and was recognized for her value contribution to the 30th Years Anniversary of the professional and Tufts HDA student chapter. Also, she spoke about the mentoring program, the Hispanic International Mission (HIM) another Non-profit organization founded by Dr. Nieto-Herman.

Thank you to the volunteers who made the day possible. The volunteers from Massachusetts HDA included; Dr. Martha Forero, from the Tufts University Department of Public Health and Co-Faculty Advisor for the Tufts Hispanic Student Dental Association Chapter. Dr. Forero helped to coordinate the Pre-dental students. Our other volunteers included Dr. Ada Infante DIS24, Dr. Daniel Gonzalez D’15, Diana Florencio D’27, Erika Magana D’25 and Adriana Iturbide D’25 (President of the Tufts HSDA Chapter), and Dr. Merelyn Hong (MAHDA Executive Director, Former MAHDA President) from Comprehensive Care Department as part of the MAHDA Symposium organizer committee.
