Request your Absentee Ballot!
Tuesday, September 17th is National Voter Registration Day, stop by Monday and Tuesday to check your voter registration, and enter a raffle to win some VOTE Gear!
Calling all out of state students, request your absentee Ballot before it’s too late!
If you are still a resident of your home state, you can request to vote by mail, as you may be unable to attend the polls in person on Tuesday November 5th!
Each state has different deadlines to apply, request, and submit, their absentee ballots check your dates here!
Keep in mind you are only allowed to vote in one location, typically the address that matches your ID, but double check your state’s residency requirements
5 Reasons out-of-state students should still vote!
- Your vote can make a difference! Local, state, and even national elections were decided by very small margins, thus one vote can influence the outcome of an election, and who becomes the elected official to take office!
- Voting strengthens our democracy! The basic definition of democracy is for the people by the people, therefore the more eligible voters who vote, the more engaged people are in the democratic process of electing our leaders, creating change for the future.
- Voting in elections can contribute to historic moments! It seems every year, every election, every administration, there are unprecedented events that will forever be remembered in the history books, and by using your voice to vote can be your small contribution to American history, whatever those events may be!
- As an out of state student, voting in your home community will not only have an impact this fall, but for the next few years, thus it is important to create positive change with your vote, to elect officials with your similar values, who will prioritize the care of your home community!
- If your values are not reflected in your home community, vote anyways! It may feel like a small effort, but voting back home can demonstrate your care and concern for your community, and your hope for electing officials who reflect the same values as you! Hold onto that hope!
