AAPHD: Berklee Screening

The Tufts Chapter of American Association of Public Health Dentistry club (AAPHD) partnered with the Berklee College of Music to offer oral health screenings to their students, as their first event for the AAPHD club revival! 12 TUSDM students in total volunteered, with Dr. Zavras! TUSDM Students screened 51 Berklee students, and passed out 121 dental kits.

Third and fourth year TUSDM students were stationed at tables, and offered one on one time to chat with the Berklee students about their oral health, asking basic screenings such as when their last dental visit or x-rays were, and encouraging all students to establish a dental home if they hadn’t already. Berklee staff shared that many participants reported feeling pleased with their decision to attend, and it was particularly encouraging to see several Berklee students with dental phobias participate and share that they felt comfortable during the screening.

It was a great event to get TUSDM students out into the community, and share their passion for oral health! We are looking forward to many more AAPHD events.
