Massachusetts Hispanic Dental Association (MAHDA) Symposium: A Great Success!

The Massachusetts Hispanic Dental Association ( MAHDA),  Hispanic Dental Association professional chapter in conjunction with the Student Hispanic Dental Association chapters from Tufts, BU and Harvard had a successful Symposium in Dental Career on September 21, 2024, at Boston University Henry M. Goldam School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Merelyn Hong MAHDA Executive Director, served as part of the organizer committee and the moderator of the event.

The attendees had the opportunity to listen to different lectures promoting Dentistry.  Representing Tufts University were Dr. Abe Abdulwaheed Tufts Alumni and Mass Dental Society President spoke about “Diverse A Strategic Advantage for Efficiency”, Tufts University Director of the International Dental Program Dr. Ronald Perry, his lecture was about ” The Importance of Advance Standing Program”,  Tufts University Director of Faculty Education and Calibration Dr. Gabriela Lagreca ” Unlocking Potential Streamline Pathways for International Dentist in US” . Dr. Meredith Bailey, DMD, MBA ” AI in Dentistry”, Middlesex Community College representatives spoke about how to become a hygienist, lab technician, and Dental Assistant. Dr. Ana Keohane ” Organized Dentistry and its impact on the future Dentist”

MAHDA representatives Dr. Elimin Tejada MAHDA President,  Dr. Ana Keohane BU Hispanic Student Faculty Adviser, Dr. Martha Forero and Dr. Merelyn Hong gave scholarship to Tufts University Students: Diana Florencio D’27, Yudi Quintero D’25, Marcela Vasconcelos Ferreira IS’26 , Marina Aspesi IS’27,  Ada Infante IS’24.

On the MAHDA Symposium Student panel representing Tufts University was Yesenia Reyes D’26, and Valquiria De Laurenzio, D’26, sharing their experience during the application process to get into the dental school. Dr. Martha Forero Tufts Faculty from Public Health Department MAHDA Symposium committee organizer collaborate with Dr. Merelyn Hong to coordinate the predental student Bold program from the National Hispanic Dental Association. Representing Tufts University predental student was Emilys Campos Belussi. 

The attendees had great experience with prededental, dental and International dentist from all over the world.
