Smile Squad’s Success at Tuft’s Community Day
Smile Squad attended Tufts Community Day, and hosted a booth delivering oral hygiene instruction to children of all ages and their parents. They distributed 288 toothbrushes and just as many boxes of toothpaste and floss, as well as toothbrush timers! The team interacted with the Tufts extended community and their families, and were able to answer many dental questions from the parents. The most beneficial aspect of this was being able to interact with the children, they loved the puppets and had so much fun showing everyone how they brush their teeth! TUSDM students learned a lot about how to best teach children the basics of brushing, and improved on our plain language explanations! The following students participated: Katie Cook, Erika Magana, Erica Perry, Michael Shamouil, Valquiria De Laurenzio, Xiaoshuang (Joy) Liu, Imani Taylor, Lauren Salloum, Ripple Garg, Scott Huang, Travis Goldstein, Kirkland Tran, Dianna Sierra, Hakem Alhady, Anuj Selvaraj, Hadi Saad, Ashik Patel. Faculty mentor, Dr. Wallach was in attendance as well.
