TUSDM SAIDS and Harvard University Native American Program: Indigenous Outreach Event Success
Recently, the Society of American Indian Dental Students (SAIDS) at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine organized an outreach event focused on improving oral health awareness in Indigenous communities. Alongside fellow TUSDM students Rita Sarracino (D26), Zack Rice (D27), Jessyca Wofford (D26), and Tuyet Nguyen (D26), they distributed oral hygiene products and provided oral health education at the Harvard Powwow. The students engaged with community members of all ages and offered hands-on instructions on proper brushing and flossing techniques. The event was a great success, fostering meaningful connections while advancing oral health in Native communities. It was a rewarding experience that reinforced the importance of culturally competent care in dentistry.
