Self Defense Class – A Smashing Hit!

Last Friday, January 3, 2025, the Wellness Club at TUSDM, in collaboration with D28 Dana Moskowitz, hosted a free and highly informative self-defense class for both students and faculty. The event aimed to empower participants by equipping them with essential skills for personal safety.

Throughout the session, attendees were introduced to various observational techniques, which included strategies for staying aware of their surroundings and identifying potential threats. These skills are vital in preventing dangerous situations before they escalate.

In addition to observational skills, the class also covered a range of defensive tools and tactics. Participants learned how to effectively use their body to defend themselves in close encounters and were educated about basic self-defense tools that can aid in protecting against an attacker.

A key component of the class was practicing disarming drills, where participants worked through reactive scenarios designed to build muscle memory and boost confidence. These drills focused on quickly and decisively neutralizing an attacker’s hold, giving participants the ability to respond effectively in high-stress situations.

Overall, the self-defense class was a valuable experience for TUSDM students and faculty alike, fostering a sense of security and preparedness while promoting physical and mental well-being.
