Community Servings with D28

Last week, members of the D28 Class rolled up their sleeves (and donned hairnets, aprons, and gloves) to volunteer in the kitchen at Community Servings located in Jamaica Plains. Founded in 1990, Community Servings is a nonprofit with a mission “to actively engage the community to provide medically tailored, nutritious, scratch-made meals for chronically and critically ill individuals and their families.” At their core, they are committed to prioritizing racial and economic justice and health equity.

After a brief orientation, we got to work chopping, peeling, baking, and packing—each task a small but meaningful step in nourishing our neighbors. It was a hands-on, heartwarming experience that reminded us of the power of service and the impact of food made with care.

Special shout out to Alexis, Bethgeana, Chaelin Isabelle, Julia, Kennedey, Kevin, Laila, Manaysia, Miguel, Naila, Parin, Sherry, and Vy.
