Family Day Fun at Renaissance Elementary School

Family Day with Renaissance Elementary School is an annual event that gives families the opportunity to meet their children’s future teachers and engage with community partners. In past years, there had been no presence from dental professionals or oral health educators, leaving a gap in promoting dental awareness among young children and their families. Recognizing this need, we saw an opportunity to introduce oral health education into the event and raise awareness about the resources available at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine (TUSDM)

At the event, we set up an engaging and informative table with interactive materials, free dental hygiene supplies, and educational resources for both kids and parents. We answered questions about oral hygiene, demonstrated proper brushing and flossing techniques, and shared information about the dental care available at Tufts. This initiative would not have been possible without the incredible efforts of our dedicated team from TUSDM: Diana Florencio, Mikayla Brown, Isabel Terrasa, America Hernandez, Erix Swenson, Ana Jimenez, Michaela Poitevien, Jacob Parker, and Kayla Green. Together, we helped fill an unmet need and made meaningful connections with the families in our community.
