ACDC Garden Clean-up Volunteer
The Asian Community Development Corporation (ACDC) develops affordable housing, promotes economic development, fosters leadership, and strengthens community capacity through advocacy and engagement. One way ACDC supports the community is by maintaining the Tufts Community Garden, a shared space used by multiple organizations.
As the colder season approached, ACDC needed extra hands to help with manual labor, including removing summer crops, tidying up the space, and turning over the soil to prepare the garden for the new season, ensuring it remains a welcoming and functional space for the community. A big shoutout to the following students joined in this effort:
D’29: Anthony Lai, Duy-linh Nguyen, Lyanne Murphy, and Josh Paez
D’28: Li (Sherry) Xu, Minyoung Choi, Stephanie Than
D’27: Lisa Ngo, Maeve Enright
Working together, we made the process both efficient and enjoyable. We also had the opportunity to assist with other ACDC initiatives, which allowed us to connect with the community and discover new ways we can apply ourselves and be helpful outside the academic setting.
This experience helped us see the tangible impact of community engagement. It was rewarding to know that our work would support a space that brings people together, and it reminded us how small acts of care and collaboration can create lasting benefits. Beyond the physical labor, we developed teamwork and a deeper appreciation for the people and organizations that sustain our community.
