About
The Queer Dentist Collective’s mission is to provide a safe and open environment for LGBTQIA2S+ students to connect and socialize. To spread awareness and educate not only those within the community, but our colleagues as well. It is important that the members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community do not just feel accepted in their identity but also embraced and celebrated for who they are.
The QDC recently changed its name from “Spectrum” to “The Queer Dentist Collective”. QDC would like to highlight and acknowledge the fluid nature – or spectrum, if you will – of human sexuality, sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression. QDC chose to change the name to “The Queer Dentist Collective” in an attempt to scream WE’RE HERE, WE’RE QUEER! We are not defined by our sexuality, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression, but we are proud of it.
If making TUSDM a safe and accepting place is something that’s important to you, whether you identify with the community or are an ally, QDC encourages you to join their e-list for news about upcoming club events and other current news pertaining to the Tufts LGBTQIA2S+ community.
Organization Goals
- Work as a group to expand their community outreach and partner with local organizations to promote oral health and awareness.
- Organize community service events that provide oral health education and referral resources to LGBTQIA2S+ communities, who experience heightened barriers in access to dental and healthcare
