Hispanic International Mission: Symposium on Dental Careers 2024

On Saturday 8/17/24, the Symposium of the Hispanic International Mission (HIM) took place at Tufts Dental School. The event was organized by Dr. Herman.

We had the honor to have Tufts Alumni as speakers including: Dr. Abe Abdul, President of the Massachusetts Dental Society (MDS) and Dr. Ada Alfonso, Vice-President of HIM and Tufts Faculty: Dr. Lorena Alex, Assistant Professor and Practice Coordinator, Dr. Francesea Bonino, Associate Professor of Periodontology. Dr. Ada Alfonso in collaboration with IS 26 students, Carlena Almanzar, Juan Loja, Maria Carmona, Rosalba Rodriguez, Jairo Estrada, and Samar Mohamed, organized a panel to talk about how to prepare for the IS program in the United States.

We had a beautiful ceremony which included the presentation of three scholarships from the Dr. Aidee Nieto-Herman Scholarship Foundation. The two Tufts students that received the scholarships were
Diana Ventura and Erika Magano. Congratulations to all who made this a successful event. The final presentation included a video about our last mission trip presented by two Tufts IS27 students: Karla Romo and Paola Iadrate.
