Autism Smiles Volunteers at Tufts Community Day!
On September 29th, Autism Smiles hosted a booth at Tufts Community Day, where our volunteers engaged with community members and provided oral health education. They distributed over 300 oral hygiene bags to families who visited our table. Many families also stopped by to learn more about the Autism Smiles program, which helps caregivers and children on the autism spectrum become more familiar with the dental office before their dental visits, making the visit less stressful and enjoyable for everyone.
The student volunteers are grateful for the opportunity to educate our community about good oral hygiene practices and raise awareness of practical support for future dental visits and at-home care.
Our faculty and student volunteers included Dr. Martha Forero, Jessica Jordan (D25), Xiomara Ruiz Morales (IS26), and Debra Baskerville (D26).
