The Tufts Medical Center NICU Cuddling Program!
Volunteer Opportunity! Join the waitlist now.
The NICU Cuddling and Advocacy Program provides students with an opportunity to spend time cuddling and reading to neonates in an effort to improve their well-being, health, and long-term outcome. Volunteers donate their time in 2-hour shifts, during which you hold babies and read to them (lecture notes, books for fun, or just talking aloud to the babies). The cuddling as well as the auditory stimulation helps babies develop and grow.
You will need to attend one training session to start volunteering in the NICU. Each session lasts 30 minutes, and will cover NICU safety, hospital etiquette, cuddling logistics, and shift sign-ups. If you have previously completed the training during other semesters, you do not need to do so again.
We are offering training sessions this Tuesday and Wednesday (2/25 and 2/26) from 12-12:30 PM and 12:30-1 PM. On the day of your training session, please meet your training group by Food 4 Thought Cafe, five minutes before the time you signed up for, and your group will walk to the NICU together.
If you aren’t able to make it this week, we are working to schedule another batch of training sessions. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
