Delta Sigma Delta (DSD)

About

Delta Sigma Delta (DSD), founded in 1882 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, is the oldest internationally recognized dental fraternity. Tufts hosts the Mu Chapter, which was instilled before the turn of the 20th century when the school was known as Boston Dental College.

As an active educational, philanthropic, and social organization, DSD offers many opportunities:

Educational Opportunities and Mentorship

  • Hands-on workshops and faculty presentations: mounting, impressions, facebow, axium training, and more.
  • Mentorship and academic support from upperclassmen.
  • Networking with alumni and graduate chapter members.
  • Opportunities to travel to other dental schools for Annual Regional DSD Meetings.

Community Service

Volunteer events in the Boston area, including:
  • Haley House Sunday Soup Kitchen – providing nutritious meals for underserved individuals.
  • Women’s Lunch Place – a day shelter that provides support and services to women in need.
  • Thanksgiving food and clothing drives to support local families in need.
  • Creating holiday cards for hospital patients, the elderly, and community members in need of holiday cheer.
  • Oral health advocacy and outreach through educational initiatives in local communities and schools.

Social Events

  • Game nights, socials, and team-building activities (top golf, sip and paint, bowling)
Annual events like:
  • Grandmasters Breakfast
  • Weekend cabin trip
  • May Mental Health Awareness Event
  • Senior Send-Off

Delta Sigma Delta is a highly prestigious organization that builds camaraderie and provides a strong support system for whatever you would like to achieve in dental school and beyond!

  • Students interested in joining DSD are invited to participate in Rush Week 2025–2026, taking place November 10th–14th (excluding the November 11th holiday).
  • Throughout the week, prospective members will have the opportunity to engage in a series of educational presentations and social events designed to provide insight into DSD’s mission, values, and community. The week will end with the official initiation ceremony for new members on November 14th. All interested students should attend and learn what it truly means to be a part of the Tufts DSD family.
