About Us


¡Bienvenidos, Jumbo Dentistas!

The Tufts HSDA Chapter, founded in 1994 by Dr. Aidee Nieto-Herman, aligns its mission with that of the National Hispanic Dental Association: to promote oral health for Hispanic/Latinx and other underrepresented communities through community engagement, education, and culturally competent care.

At Tufts HSDA, we strive to create an inclusive space where students can celebrate their cultures while also recognizing the importance of representation in dentistry. Our chapter is a familia—supporting one another academically, professionally, and personally throughout dental school.

This year, we are excited to continue growing our impact with a wide range of events that combine community service, professional development, and cultural celebration.

Welcome & Hispanic Heritage Month Events Coming Soon:

  • Welcome & Socials– Noche de Bienvenida (8/22), Hispanic Game Night (8/28), Salsa & Bachata Social at The Anchor (9/1), Boston Red Sox Hispanic Heritage Night (9/27), and our Annual HSDA Photoshoot.
  • Community Outreach– Oral health education at Renaissance Elementary (8/25), Lessons in a Lunchbox at Brown Elementary (9/22), and supporting families across Boston’s Spanish-speaking communities.
  • Educational Opportunities– Lunch & Learn with Dr. Karina Belussi (9/3), our General Body Meeting (9/3), and the MA-HDA Dental Careers Symposium at Tufts (10/18).
  • Conferences & Networking– HSDA members attending the HDA National Conference (9/18–21).
  • Heritage Month Highlights– Celebrating Hispanic & Latino Heritage Month with the Hispanic 5K/10K race (10/4) and cultural events throughout October.
