Professor Richard M. Lerner speaks at the Vatican

Professor Richard M. Lerner, the Bergstrom Chair in Applied Developmental Science,  attended the 29th General Assembly of Members of the Pontifical Academy for Life, which was held at the Vatican on February 12 to 14, 2024. Lerner has been a member of this Vatican Academy since 2017.  Pictured below is Professor Lerner and Pope Francis greeting each other at the Paper Audience the Pope holds for Academy members at the beginning of each of general assembly.  This year’s meeting was focused on the topic of “Human: Meanings and Challenges,” and Professor Lerner delivered an invited address: “On being human: Developmentally-nurturant relationships in dynamic systems.” The Vatical plans to include a recording of the address on its YouTube Channel.
