Human Flourishing

The Early Emergence and Development of Human Flourishing: First Steps to Advancing a Developmental Science of Character Strengths

Funded by Templeton World Charity Foundation

The proposed project is a literature survey and review that addresses three specific issues: (1) the identification of character strengths (CSs) in the first years of life, (2) how early CSs knit in a nomological net with children’s other developing neurobiological, cognitive/verbal, and socioemotional competencies, and (3) parent cognitions and practices that may be pertinent to the emergence, development, and promotion of CSs in their offspring.
