Colonel Steven Tipa
Colonel Steven Tipa was commissioned as an Armor Officer in 2003 through the ROTC program at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He served as a Cavalry Platoon Leader in Iraq and Germany with 1st Battalion, 4th Cavalry, 1st Infantry Division.
After completing the Special Forces Qualification Course, he served in 1st Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) on Operational Detachment Alpha 1126 and as a Company Executive Officer, conducting missions throughout southeast Asia.
He has had assignments in US Army Special Operations Command, the Army’s Operational Support Element, as a Task Force J3 in Iraq, and in the Army’s Operational Support Team. His Battalion Command was with 2-47 Infantry (OSUT), and he served most recently as the Deputy Commander of the 2nd Special Warfare Training Group (Airborne).
Colonel Tipa’s military education includes the Joint Combined Warfighter School, the Command and General Staff College, Special Forces Qualification Course, Ranger School, Military Freefall Course, Airborne School, Maneuver Captain’s Career Course, and Armor Basic Officer Leadership Course. He is accompanied by his wife, the former Hazel Ang, and daughter, Kait.
