Lieutenant Commander Lisa M. Mattrella

LCDR Lisa Mattrella was born and raised in Waterbury, Connecticut. A surface warfare officer, she is a 2010 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy. She holds a master’s degree in Defense and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College, where she was a member of the Halsey Bravo Advanced Research Program, a collaborative student-faculty program that examines potential military challenges throughout the Middle East.

She served as First Lieutenant aboard USS BULKELEY (DDG 84) and deployed in 2011 with the ENTERPRISE Carrier Strike Group. Her second sea tour, she served on CTF-52 staff in Bahrain as the Anti-Terrorism Officer and later the Assistant Operations Officer, embarked onboard AFSB(I)15 PONCE. As a department head, she served aboard USS FORREST SHERMAN (DDG 98) as the Operations Officer. In 2018 and again in 2019, she deployed with the HARRY S TRUMAN Carrier Strike Group as part of the first-ever Dynamic Force Employment in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. She served her second department head tour as Plans and Tactics officer onboard USS NEW YORK (LPD 21).

Ashore, LCDR Mattrella worked as a Ballistic Missile Defense planner and Maritime Operations Center Executive Officer on the U.S. Naval Forces Central Command/U.S. Fifth Fleet staff. Currently, she is serving as the Deputy Executive Assistant to Commander U.S. Naval Forces Central Command/U.S. Fifth Fleet.
Her personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various service and campaign awards.
