Lieutenant Colonel Andrew K. Prewitt

Andrew Prewitt is a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves and a career U.S. government civilian. Andrew’s civilian career began with the U.S. Department of State as a Diplomatic Security Special Agent with the Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) in 2005. His service with DSS included tours at Field Offices in Boston, MA and Washington D.C., and U.S. Embassies in Bamako, Mali and Nairobi, Kenya. He is currently serving as a Joint Operations Planner in the Strategy Division of Headquarters U.S. Africa Command (USAFRICOM) in Stuttgart, Germany. He is responsible for the development and implementation of USAFRICOM’s Theater Campaign Plan. 

As a U.S. Army Reservist, Lieutenant Colonel Andrew K. Prewitt is a U.S. Army War College Fellow with Tufts University’s Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy in Medford, Massachusetts. He received his commission as an Infantry Officer from the Massachusetts Army National Guard’s Officer Candidate School (OCS) in 2004. He is a graduate of the Infantry Officer Basic Course, Military Intelligence Captains’ Career Course, Civil Affairs Qualification Course, Airborne School, and the U.S. Army Command and General Staff Officer Course. 

Andrew’s military overseas assignments include deployments as an Infantry Officer to Camp Bondsteel Kosovo with the 1-182d Infantry Regiment; Intelligence Officer with the 1-181st Infantry Regiment at Camp Phoenix Kabul, Afghanistan; Civil Affairs Officer with Joint Operations Task Force 505 in Katmandu, Nepal; and as a Joint Operations Planner in the Future Operations Division (ACJ35) of U.S. Africa Command. Andrew has served as the S3 Chief of Operations for the 404th Civil Affairs Battalion AIRBORNE, Fort Dix, NJ; and S3 Chief of Operations of the 405th Civil Affairs Battalion Pleasant Grove, UT. Andrew’s command assignments include Civil Affairs Company Command of C/443 Civil Affairs Battalion in Newport, RI; and Commander of HHC with the 405th Civil Affairs Battalion in Pleasant Grove, UT; and Battalion Commander of the 432d Civil Affairs Battalion in Green Bay, WI.  

Andrew received a Bachelor of Arts and Science degree from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth; a Master of Arts in Diplomacy from Norwich University; and a Master of Military Arts and Science degree from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College. Andrew has completed all course work for Northeastern University’s professional  Doctorate of Law and Policy program and is currently completing his Doctoral Thesis.   

Andrew resides in Stuttgart, Germany with his wife and three children. Their family enjoys horseback riding, tennis, basketball, soccer, pickleball, skiing in the Alps and beach vacations in the Mediterranean.
