Tufts iGEM team wins Bronze in 2016 Jamboree!

Congratulations to the members of the Tufts Synthetic Biology 2016 iGEM Team for winning bronze in the Fall Jamboree in Boston!

Sound Bites has generously agreed to share proceeds from its business between 2pm and 9pm on 11/5 to Tufts Synthetic Biology! More information on the Facebook page.
The program was organized through community fundraising site GroupRaise.

Todd presents his talk on engineering an E. coli consortium to efficiently assimilate hexoses in lignocellulosic biomass.

Venkatesh apparently gave a talk on engineering a synthetic regulon in yeast… but since there are no pictures confirming it I’m not sure it happened 🙂

Prof. Nair presents a talk on Todd’s project on engineering bacteria as therapeutics to combat wound infections.

Prof. Nair meets up with current and former colleagues from Huimin Zhao‘s (UIUC) lab including Zengyi Shao (Iowa State), Tyler Johannes (U of Tulsa), Ee Lui Ang (A-STAR), Zhilei Chen (Texas A&M), and Edgar Goluch (Northeastern).

Dr. Nair named a 2016 NIH New Innovator!

Exciting news for the Nair lab! Dr. Nair just received the highly prestigious NIH Director’s New Innovator Award! This award was specifically designed to support exceptionally creative new investigators who propose highly innovative projects that have the potential for unusually high impact. Thanks to all the lab members who worked so hard to provide the preliminary data for this proposal!

We’re currently looking for a post-doctoral researcher to join our team! The start date is expected to be September 2017. Applicants must have experience with cell culture and standard molecular biology techniques. Interested applicants please email Prof. Nair (Nikhil.Nair_at_tufts.edu) a summary of your current research and your research interests. Please also provide contact information of 2-3 references, including your current PhD thesis adviser.
