Transportation Demand Management Coordinator, Rice University (Houston, TX)

This position assists and is supervised by the Director of Administrative Services. Its role includes research, analysis, planning, development, implementation, administration and continuous improvement of Alternative Transportation programs and services at Rice University. This position also assists the Director of Administrative Services in overseeing the day-to-day operation of alternative transportation services such as car-share, campus shuttle service, emergency ride home program, car-pooling, van-pooling and bicycle programs.

Alternative Transportation Programs support the University’s high quality learning environment. The goals of the programs include reducing the number of employees and students driving alone to campus, reducing traffic congestion, and improving the quality of the campus environment. To achieve these goals the Director of Administrative Services, with assistance from the Transportation Department Management (TDM) Coordinator, Parking Manager and Transportation Manager identifies long-term planning strategies, develops and implements fiscal incentives, and promotes commuting alternatives to driving alone to campus. This position is a key member of the Parking and Transportation team within Rice University.

Sustainability Communications Strategist, University of California Office of the President (Oakland, CA)

The Marketing Communications team at the University of California’s systemwide headquarters is looking for a Communications Strategist to drive the university’s positioning and visibility as a leader in sustainability ? not only in how it operates, but also in how its researchers are identifying scalable solutions to help California and the world address the challenges of a changing climate.

This position is responsible for telling UC’s sustainability story broadly, drawing from a rich statewide network of campuses, medical centers, labs, agricultural extension centers and natural reserves. You’ll develop original content, tailoring the message and platform to audience needs. Depending on the day, this could range from reporting and writing stories, to reimagining an annual report for the web, to creating a series of bite-sized profiles for social media to support a high-profile symposium of climate experts. With last year’s launch of UC’s presidential initiative to become carbon-neutral by 2025, you’ll work closely with leadership to identify key themes and communications opportunities emerging from initiative working groups and related systemwide sustainability efforts. You’ll create and feed cross-platform campaigns and coordinate with internal and campus communications colleagues to spotlight progress, share research breakthroughs and convey the impact of UC’s efforts.

Assistant Director – General, Forestry Department, Field and Agriculture Organization (Rome)

The Forestry Department (FO) aspires to be a global centre of excellence in providing policy relevant information and analysis in support of the achievement of FAO’s goals of ending hunger and rural poverty, while making agriculture and food systems inclusive and sustainable and rural livelihoods resilient. The Department promotes FAO mission in forestry, ensuring the technical quality and service in the pursuit of the Organization’s five strategic objectives, and to enhance human well-being supporting member countries in the sustainable management of the world’s trees and forests, considering other land uses (soil, water, biodiversity conservation) and climate change. The Department ensures an effective balance among the social, environmental, and economic aspects of forests and their governance at all levels.
As part of the senior Management team, the ADG ensures coherence and quality of FAO policies, messages and work on Forestry across the Organization, as well as, consistency with corporate goals and programs. He/she sets an example for a positive, innovative and productive work culture within the Department and the Organization. The ADG serves on corporate teams to advance the Organization’s objectives and facilitates strategic partnerships with external stakeholders.

Volunteer at The Great Pumpkin Float!

Volunteer to assist with the Great Pumpkin Float, an event coordinated by the Massachusetts DCR and the Neponset River Greenway Council! The event helps to inform residents about the work these groups have done to build a greenway.

14th Annual Neponset River Pumpkin Float
Tues., Oct. 20th 5pm-8pm
Pope John Paul II Park, Dorchester, MA
Help us take over the Neponset River with hundreds of lit Jack-o-lanterns!
Volunteers will help us:
·         Set up pumpkins for the float (insert and light candles)
·         Shuttle pumpkins from registration to the river
·         Get visitors excited in a costume parade and freeze dance
·         Take photos!

Garden Program Director, University of the Pacific (Stockton, CA)

The Garden Program Director at University of Pacific will be responsible for physical planning and development of the food producing Robb Garden, developing and teaching new academic courses and/or lectures that link the Robb Garden and Bon Appetit Native Garden into Pacific’s academic degree programs, supporting the community garden on the Sacramento campus, and developing new and deepening existing relationships between those gardens and Pacific’s co-curricular programs.
