Health and Homelessness Student Symposium: Reflections and Lessons Learned from Tisch Summer Fellows

Tuesday, November 8th, 2022 from 12:00pm to 1:00pm (ET)

Enjoy lunch will listening to Tisch Summer Fellow graduate students who spent the summer focused on the health of humans and animals experiencing homelessness.  Learn about the barriers to health for those experiencing housing and food insecurity or living in shelters, the ways organizations and providers mobilize to promote health access and justice, and the impact on student learning in their respective health professions.

 

Lunch will be providedplease RSVP by November 4th so that they can order sufficient food. 

This panel will feature student speakers:

Courtney Wallner, V25, Summer Fellow with Denver Friends League (CO) whose mission is “Working with our compassionate community,
we will end pet homelessness and animal suffering.”

Emma Stevens, M25, Summer Fellow with Preble Street Learning Collaborative (Maine), which “ensures the most vulnerable underserved people in Portland have access to quality, barrier-free healthcare.”

Kayla Birde, D23, Summer Fellow with New England Center and Home for Veterans (Boston), “a national leader in housing and serving Veterans who are at-risk of homelessness.”

Joseph Sharpe, M25, Summer Fellow with Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program, whose mission is “to ensure unconditionally equitable and dignified access to the highest quality health care for all individuals and families experiencing homelessness in our community.”

This event is part of Healthcare Alliance for the Homeless’ Justice for the Homeless Month, and generously supported by Tisch College of Civic Life.
