UAV Mapping
Small UAV’s can provide a capability to perform rapid surveying of physical parameters in an outdoor environment. For instance, a UAV equipped with LiDAR range finder and a differential GPS unit linked to a basestation can be used to produce and elevation grid with cm accuracy. Such a system can be used for commercial surveying purposes or for post-natural disaster terrain evaluation. The focus of this project will be to define a parameter to be measured, and design build and deploy a system to perform these measurements. The project will include aspects for sensor selection, measurement error modelling, flight control, system integration, and performance testing and evaluation.
