Respondus LockDown Browser and Respondus Monitor are two proctoring tools you can use in Canvas to lock down a student’s computer environment and monitor their activities during a Canvas quiz.
LockDown Browser can be used both in a classroom setting or when students are remote. It prevents students from opening other apps, browsers, etc, when they are taking a New Quiz or Classic Quiz in Canvas. Settings are customizable. It can be used on its own, or in combination with Respondus Monitor.
Respondus Monitor is only used when LockDown Browser is also being used. It monitors and records a student’s webcam and screen and provides a basic analysis of the recording, flagging events which need review. It’s designed for use when students are not in a classroom. Settings are customizable.
