Duties/Responsibilities:
-Promotes, markets and grows the “LUMA” brand and sphere of influence in university, city, region and the world.
-Leads all fundraising (gifts, sponsorships, ticket sales, etc.) activities for the Museum, including on-going stewardship of benefactors and potential benefactors.
-Responsible for all aspects of care, management, and operations of the Museum and its staff.
-Develops and implements sound policies and procedures for the care and use of the permanent collection according to high professional standards. This area of responsibility includes conservation, preservation, documentation, exhibition, accessibility, interpretation and acquisition.
-Develops programs of exhibitions and other activities specifically directed toward making the Museum a dynamic teaching tool for undergraduates and graduate students and concomitantly for the general public.
-May teach courses, lead seminars, guest lecture for internal or external groups
-Recruits and nurtures board of advisors that will promote the LUMA
-Has overall responsibility for the financial condition of the Museum and actively promotes efforts in all areas to balance the budget and control operating costs.
-Establishes outreach policies to make the educational program of the Museum available to a broad public audience, particularly in local communities.
-Advises and completes other art or cultural affairs projects that are assigned
-Other duties as assigned.

Communication Ability: Exceptional communicator, public speaking presence is essential and success in developing and deepening relationships with donors for fundraising and other significant projects
Fundraising Ability: An established record in fundraising, including an ability to engage a broader community and cultivate relationships in support of the Museum’s programs and activities. Demonstrates enthusiasm for and successful experience with developing major donor, foundation, and corporate relationships and securing funding.
Reasoning Ability: Capable of implementing projects and programs and making informed decisions on important areas in museum security, museum environment and ethics.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises the work of others. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Minimum Education/Experience:
Master’s degree in Art History or related area and 4-8 years of progressive senior level museum experience with demonstrated administrative, managerial, and fund-raising abilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
