About SOTA

The Student Occupational Therapy Association (SOTA) is a Tufts Graduate Student Council affiliated association within the Department of Occupational Therapy.

SOTA represents the body of graduate student interests within our department and Tufts University. Our aim is to organize and advocate for student interests and concerns, while enhancing the growth of the students, the university at large, and the community. SOTA is concerned with promoting occupational therapy through university and community outreach.

SOTA operates through monthly meetings where we meet as a student body and hear from the executive board about departmental news or upcoming events. Additionally, each month we coordinate a speaker presentation or activity that fosters additional community engagement for students. This primarily takes the form of bringing in community members or professors to give presentations on their organization or a unique area of occupational therapy.

Along with monthly meetings, SOTA provides regular opportunities for community service, both for local and national organizations. Social activities are organized as well for students to enjoy and foster friendships among cohorts.

Tufts University is proud to have chartered the first Coalition of Occupational Therapy Advocates for Diversity (COTAD) chapter in the Boston Area. Our COTAD leaders provide the department with opportunities to discuss and educate ourselves on important issues surrounding diversity and inclusion in healthcare.
