#1314-375 Traveling Exhibitions Manager, Science Learning Division. Full Time/Exempt. EEO Category 6.The Traveling Exhibitions Manager provides management to tour installation staff engaged in the delivery of exceptional customer service and acts as the primary resource for technical and maintenance expertise for various Science Museum of Minnesota traveling exhibitions.  The position develops technical and maintenance processes and documentation related to the museum’s traveling exhibitions and maintains traveling exhibition sales and support websites. This staff member is an integral part of a team providing the highest customer experience in the preparation, care and distribution of traveling exhibits as well as developing and training tour managers to assist with traveling exhibition distribution. Responsibilities: Manage day-to-day operation of the traveling exhibitions process and product to ensure smooth, efficient touring procedures. Prepare and maintain maintenance and refurbishment expense budgets. Build partnerships and establish relationships within the Science Museum as well as host museums clients and vendors to promote the value of traveling exhibitions. Develop and design product documentation in support of the traveling exhibition’s strategic direction resulting in successful achievement of goals and objectives. Manage communication to ensure consistent, coherent, and effective messaging to promote the positive positioning of the museum.

Requirements: Experience: 5 or more years of professional experience maintaining and assembling custom-designed objects and structures (three-dimensional exhibits, art or multimedia displays, theater scenery, props, machinery, furniture, musical instruments, etc.). Working familiarity with cultural organizations. Education: 2 to 4 years post secondary education in studio, industrial or liberal arts preferred

Travel: (by air) and work away from home for prolonged periods up to 8 consecutive weeks, including weekends. Valid driver’s license (must be aged 25 or older in order to rent automobiles). Fork-lift training and licensure, desired. Rigging experience and licensure, desired.
