Enjoy developing exciting member events – from strategy phase to implementation? Like to develop your own marketing campaigns from conception to reporting? The Academy Membership team is looking for a new addition with all of these qualities. We’re responsible for attracting, engaging, and renewing the Academy’s strong member base, and we need a person who can help take our Membership marketing efforts to the next level. The Associate Program Manager will be responsible for our key member communications such as e-newsletters, email campaigns, as well as working with colleagues in the Membership marketing team on various acquisition, stewardship and retention programs. He or she reports to the Associate Director of Membership and contributes to the larger goals of the Membership Department and of the Academy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create Membership content, develop and oversee editorial calendar, and manage email publication schedule in support of major campaigns
Lead development of membership communication strategy, write engaging marketing copy and help deploy across multiple channels, including email, web, and social media (in partnership with Marketing)
Have strong knowledge of member email lists and develop targeting and segmentation strategies
Partner with Marketing, content creators and other colleagues from across the Academy to create and publish multiple email newsletters a month, developing and implementing A/B testing strategies
Develop, create and deploy the Membership web content, promotions, and updates on calacademy.org
Regularly track, analyze, and deliver results for email and other digital campaigns
Own all aspects of members-only previews, including strategy, programming and marketing communications
Partner with the Associate Director of Membership to execute direct mail and email communications to renewing members
Create effective working relationships and partner with internal divisions and colleagues on key projects
Participate enthusiastically in Academy events as needed (i.e. Members-only events, Gala, etc.); several nights and occasional weekends required
Follow all Academy safety regulations
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
The ideal candidate will possess a combination of the following education and/or equivalent experience:
3-5+ year(s) Marketing and/or communications experience preferred
Prior experience in digital marketing, email marketing and knowledge of email platform(s) preferred (1-2+ year(s) HTML a plus)
Marketing automation (e.g.Marketo) and Google Analytics experience a plus
Museum and/or membership experience a plus
Experience with Excel, PowerPoint, Galaxy and Raiser’s Edge a plus
BA/BS in Marketing, Communications, or Journalism or related field preferred
Background in Project Management required, including working with cross-functional partners
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Passion for the Academy mission and interest in science and/or sustainability
Strong organizing and multi-tasking skills with acute attention to detail
Ability to work both independently and as a collaborative team member
Strong oral and written communication skills
Creativity and ability to write engaging, thoughtful copy required
Ability to execute multiple projects simultaneously and work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Refined interpersonal skills, sense of humor, strong work ethic and willingness to get the job done
Experience partnering with external creative agencies and/or internal creative studios a plus
Demonstrated professional communication skills and demeanor
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups or individuals.
