Summary:
Assists the Curatorial staff in maintaining galleries and exhibitions and in the installation, moving, packing and shipping of objects.
Job Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Assists in maintaining the appearance and safety of the collections in all Museum galleries and exhibitions as well as at on-site and off-site storage.
- Assists in the installation and changing of exhibitions and displays.
- Assists in the moving of glass within the Museum and records the associated location changes for Registration.
- Assists in periodic inventory of the collection.
- Assists in the periodic cleaning of the collections.
- With other members of the Collections Management staff, conducts daily inspections of galleries, checks cases and object positions.
- Assists in changing case lighting as necessary.
- Numbers objects after numbers are assigned by Registration.
- Assists in the preparation, installation and maintenance of labels for exhibits and matting of display materials.
- Unpacks objects received and packs objects to be shipped.
- Couriers objects as required.Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree required; bachelor’s degree desired.
- Ability to handle and pack glass objects with care.
- Knowledge of art history desired.
- Ability to work well independently and as a member of a team.
- Ability to work accurately in a timely manner.
- General familiarity with computers and software.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as necessary.
