Preservation Massachusetts is seeking to hire a Conference Planner for the 2015 Massachusetts Statewide Historic Preservation Conference. About the Massachusetts Statewide Historic Preservation Conference:

The Massachusetts Historic Preservation Conference is overseen and administered by Preservation Massachusetts, with the support of the members of the Massachusetts Preservation Coalition (a program of PM). The purpose of the conference shall be to educate, network, promote and strengthen the overall preservation community while forging partnerships and relationships with other like-minded constituencies in the Commonwealth.  The conference is graciously hosted by the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and Preservation Worcester.

 

Job Description:

Title: Conference Planner
Supervisor: James Igoe, Preservation Massachusetts

WORK OBJECTIVES:

To work cooperatively with Preservation Massachusetts staff and the Conference Executive and  Content Committee to organize a meaningful and successful statewide historic preservation conference in Worcester on August 14, 2015.

DUTIES:

Logistics – coordination of planning efforts between PM, committees, vendors and venues for overall schedule of the day. Day of coordination of volunteers, speakers, room coordination, transportation, etc.

Communication – coordinate correspondence with committees and necessary parties, disseminate email communications and tasks to persons. Schedule meetings when necessary.

 

Content – Assist in identifying, inviting and coordinating with speakers with Content Committee Co-Chairs.

 

Material Coordination and Promotion – Graphics/Printing Signage, registration material, e-blasts and communications, digital media and platforms for conference. Coordinating with vendors

 

Catering – Work with venue/PM staff on coordinating breakfast/lunch for day and within conference budget.

 

Follow-Up – Run analysis on conference with surveys and provide a de-brief booklet on conference process.

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS: 
– Substantial experience in conference planning and organizing.

-Strong leadership and presence, with excellent leadership and communication skills.

-The ability to work collegially with a wide variety of interests, constituencies and partners.

-Independent work ability and ethic, able to juggle many tasks and responsibilities.

-Travel for meetings is mandatory and access to a vehicle is necessary.

-History or Historic Preservation background preferred.

Time: Preliminary 8 hours per week (adjustable) beginning March 1. Time will increase with the approval of PM as conference nears and accounts for time following for necessary debriefing and review.
