Executive Director [Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center]

The Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center (WVMCC) is seeking an Executive Director  to provide the vision, strategic leadership and management expertise for this museum of 9 full time and part time staff.  The Director is the primary staff to the non-profit Association Board of Trustees and a liaison to key funding partners.  The Director will work with community stakeholders to continue sustaining relationships for the museum. Focus is on creating awareness of the value of the museum as a key asset for preservation of the region’s heritage and driver for economic development through cultural tourism.

Qualifications & Experience

• The new director must relate to the Museum’s heritage and be respected as a credible steward by staff, community stakeholders and scholars given his/her significant responsibility for one of the region’s best museums.
• The new director must have an enthusiasm for history, art and culture and an energetic ability to convey excitement about its value to all, from scholars to the indifferent.       He/she must be as comfortable with people as with historical or art objects and be energized by the introduction of one to the other.
• The director must demonstrate an ability and a passion for energizing the community in support of the museum, its fundraising efforts and mission.  He/she should enjoy entertaining and the public demands made on a leader of stature in the community.
• With an annual operating budget of more than $740,000 and a staff of over 9, the museum seeks a seasoned and gifted manager with a track record of executing projects of scale while successfully directing ongoing operations.
• The new director should be able to combine marketing instincts with aesthetic and intellectual integrity   in helping to build the reputation of the Museum locally, regionally and nationally.
• The new director must have an appreciation for the benefits which the museum’s mission and collections can impart to the Museum’s audience and its educational and cultural goals.

The WVMCC is located in Wenatchee, WA .  The Wenatchee Valley is Located in the center of Washington State. Wenatchee is a short trip from nearly anywhere in the northwest.  The stunning Cascade Range to the west, the fertile Columbia Plateau to the east, and the mighty Columbia River in the middle carve out a unique mix of climate, geography and opportunity.
