The Development Officer is responsible for planning and implementing all of the Museum’s fundraising and cultivation events. The Development Officer works closely with the Director of Development, the President and members of the Boards to define and reach the goals of each of these events. The Development Officer also coordinates all external rentals of the Museum for meetings and functions. The Development Officer is part of an interdepartmental team that promotes the Museum and its programs through an ongoing public relations campaign. Qualifications:

The Development Officer:

  1. Has at a minimum a BA or BS from an accredited 4-year college, with 1-3 years development or related experience.
  2. Works well independently, able to manage strict timelines and manage multiple projects at one time.
  3. Has excellent collaboration skills and enjoys working with teams as well to continually enhance and energize our events.
  4. Is computer literate, with a working knowledge of social media platforms. The ideal candidate will have experience with Blackbaud, though that is not mandatory.
  5. Has excellent organizational and communication (written and verbal) skills, is willing to solicit gifts from individuals and corporations, and is an enthusiastic and positive representative for the Museum and our mission.
  6. Has experience organizing large and small fundraising events, and comfort in working with Museum leadership to plan and implement these functions.
  7. Is able to reprioritize as needed and has the ability to problem-solve.
  8. Has strong interpersonal skills, is outgoing and willing to make cold calls to prospects.
  9. Understands some evenings and weekends are required through the year to support these events and heavy visitation periods.
