ABOUT BETHEL WOODS:
Bethel Woods Center for the Arts is a cultural center that inspires
creative expression and civic engagement to enrich the human spirit. The
$100 million outdoor performing arts center and museum are located at
the site of the original 1969 Woodstock festival in Bethel, NY, situated
on nearly 2,000 bucolic acres.
POSITION ROLE:
The Education Programs Manager is an integral position within the
department of Education & Community Outreach and is involved with a wide
range of educational programs for diverse audiences. This position
oversees the implementation and expansion of on-going educational
programs for a range of audiences, including school groups, adult
audiences, and family programs. A major component of the position will
be in the implementation of a new, innovative program currently under
development, which represents a partnership between Bethel Woods and
area schools. This is a full-time, year-round position.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position oversees the implementation of on-going educational
programs at Bethel Woods, including revising and continuing existing
programs and creating new programs to help better serve our audiences.
Position includes creative development of school and family-based
programs, including expanding the existing programs to include
additional pre- and post-visit support materials. Position also provides
research and support for ongoing speaker and film series and other
adult-based programs. Experience with school groups–either in the
classroom or informal learning environment–is essential.
Specific Duties:
· Creates, implements, and monitors development of education
programs relating to arts education, broadly defined, at Bethel Woods
· Provides logistical support to all of the above programs, and
assists as needed with other departmental projects
· Supervises
o School programs volunteers (training & scheduling)
o Summer interns
o Education & Community Programs Assistant
