Director of Education: Frick Art & Historical Center – Pittsburgh, PA
The Frick Art & Historical Center is located on beautifully landscaped gardens in Pittsburgh’s East End. The museum and its multiple collections are the legacy of Helen Clay Frick, daughter of Henry Clay Frick, one of America’s greatest industrialists and art collectors. Here, one can view fine and decorative arts and artifacts, magnificent exhibitions and vintage cars and carriages, take part in educational programs and concerts, enjoy fine dining and more.
The Director of Education is primarily responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of all interpretive programming produced by the Frick Art & Historical Center using current learning theory and methodology, technology and museum best practices. Programming is currently produced for the following audiences: adult visitors to the site; school groups; summer campers; scouts; teachers; families; and community outreach groups, both seniors and students. Additional responsibilities include recruiting and directing the continuing education of in-house teachers and docents.
Bachelor’s degree in education or related field required, advanced degree preferred; three to five years of experience directing the activities of an education department, preferably in a museum setting; knowledge of state-of-the-art education technology; self- motivated with the ability to inspire creativity; strong oral and written communication skills; and clearance of background checks.
