COHERE Trainees Spring 2021

The COHERE Training Program brings together a diverse group of community members interested in improving the health of their communities. Meet some of our trainees from our inaugural COHERE cohort in Spring 2021.

Amanda Yuan

Amanda is a graduate of Tufts University with a major in Community Health. She has a deep interest in working towards greater equity in healing/health access, especially for BIPOC communities. Through COHERE, she wants to learn more about what it means to fight for the right to health for her Chinese/Asian American community on both individual and structural levels, and how to show up in solidarity for all communities fighting for justice.

Jaleela Austin

Jaleela has resided in Massachusetts for 35 years. She has been involved with community outreach since age 11, starting as a peer leader. Her goal is to gain knowledge as a CHW and to eventually start a community nonprofit that provides resources and opportunities for people who may suffer from financial hardships. She is interested in health and fitness, including mental health, healthcare, the arts, education, community outreach, childcare and child and behavioral development.

Qiana Gates

Qiana resides in Gary, Indiana. She currently works as an Insurance Verifier for a healthcare system in Indiana and is also a patient care assistant (PCA). Through the CHW program she wants to gain knowledge about how to help bridge gaps for community members that need assistance in obtaining resources. She enjoys helping others.
