Exhibits Designer―Museum of HistoryMiami.
The Museum of HistoryMiami (MHM), located in downtown Miami, is a
well-established institution with approximately 35 full and part-time
employees and an annual budget of $3 million. MHM maintains active
permanent, changing and traveling exhibition programs, dedicated to
interpreting the history and contemporary life of South Florida and the
Caribbean. The new Exhibits Designer will collaborate with curators and
other museum staff to create innovative exhibitions for diverse
audiences. He/she will supervise staff preparators and various
temporary assistants, and coordinate relationships with suppliers and
contractors. Will also provide design support to other museum

Job Responsibilities
Design development and research, including exhibit architecture,
interactive experiences, three-dimensional exhibit elements and
interiors from conceptual stage through final drawings, while working
closely with the exhibits team throughout the process.
Prepare conceptual sketches, preliminary drawings, computer renderings,
and design and construction drawings for various audiences.
Train and supervise staff and temporary preparators and graphic
designers involved in exhibit design projects.
Supervise outside contractors and designers in the progress and
implementation of specific projects, including oversight of quality and
accuracy of work, and monitoring schedules.
Other duties as directed.
Position Specifications
● Education―Requires a minimum of B.S. or B.A. in architecture,
industrial design, exhibit design, graphic design or equivalent
experience. Three years’ experience in exhibit design or related field
and minimum of two years’ management experience.
● Proven experience in multiple phases of the design process,
including conceptualization, design development and CDs.
● Special knowledge and skills―Strong knowledge of materials,
fabrication techniques and construction processes. Knowledge of graphic
production.
● Demonstrated ability to work in a team, with leadership
qualities.
● Strong Project management skills are essential as is the ability
to multitask.
