Works collaboratively with managers and supervisors to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive training curriculum that integrates site and divisional training programs

Assures consistently high levels of presentation skills and knowledge of 18th-century Williamsburg throughout the division as well as Products, Hospitality, and other areas of the Foundation

Provides instruction, mentoring, coaching, and counseling to interpreters and to other employees developing training programs

Teaches classes related to specific interpretive content and techniques

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Proven ability to create training materials by synthesizing large amounts of material

Proven ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Abilities to (1) teach history and presentation skills using a variety of techniques, (2) organize time and teaching materials effectively, and (3) represent Colonial Williamsburg Foundation before national and international organizations

Demonstrated success as a mentor or coach, or theatrical director

Familiarity with various interpretive techniques, especially narrative (storytelling)

Knowledge of early American history

All of the above generally gained through completion of a bachelor’s degree in American history, English history or a closely related field, three years theatrical directing and acting experience and five years interpretive/living history experience

Highly desirable:  Two years supervisory or educational administration experience; detailed knowledge of Virginia history; Experience as an evaluator (giving feedback)

Job Description
The Andrew County Museum and Historical Society, a private nonprofit organization, invites applications for the position of curator. The museum is located 15 miles north of St. Joseph and 65 miles from Kansas City, Missouri. With a population of 5,000, Savannah serves as the county seat of a rural county with 19,000 residents. Andrew Countians delight in small town life and enjoy a low cost of living. The curator’s position is full-time with benefits (health, dental and vacation). A Masters Degree in History, American Studies or Museum Studies is required. Two years of museum experience is preferred. Applications will be accepted until October 15th.The museum now seeks a highly motivated, creative individual to serve as curator who, working with the Director and volunteers, will build upon the success of A Rural Way of Life to better serve our community. The curator will serve in a leadership role in the development of public and school programs and in planning and implementing a changing exhibition schedule. The curator must also be familiar with museum collections management, standards and best practices, preventative conservation, and supervision of volunteer staff. Computer skills including familiarity with Windows based and PastPerfect software are required. The curator should have excellent written and verbal skills. A knowledge of rural history is a definite plus. The successful candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and possess sound research skills. Solid people skills are a must. The curator’s responsibilities include:

The Thomas Jefferson Foundation, the non-profit that owns and operates Monticello, the historic home of Thomas Jefferson, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Director of Events.  This position is responsible for leading the events team through the entire life-cycle, including marketing, sales, planning, and execution of events at the Thomas Jefferson Foundation.  The successful applicant will have a strong marketing and business development background in addition to events management experience. Primary focus is on building and sustaining the Foundation’s special events functions by delivering superior customer service. Responsibilities include creating business development strategy, controlling event budgets, negotiating sales agreements and vendor contracts, supervising event staff, and coordinating all event assignments and timelines. Must have ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word and Excel, and PowerPoint experience is a plus.
